Singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter turned heads at the 2026 Met Gala, embracing the “Fashion is Art” or “Costume Art” theme with a groundbreaking custom Dior creation by creative director Jonathan Anderson.

The show-stopping look, which Carpenter called her “dream dress,” was crafted entirely from film strips sourced from the 1954 Audrey Hepburn classic Sabrina.

Speaking to Vogue’s La La Anthony on the red carpet, Carpenter explained the innovative design: “It’s all made of film, which is my dream.” She expressed deep gratitude to Anderson and the Dior team, noting they had just wrapped her Coachella looks before diving into this project. “It’s just from the movie ‘Sabrina,’ which is one of my favorite films of all time,” she added. Her longtime stylist, Jared Ellner, helped bring the vision to life.

The avant-garde halter-neck gown featured a sheer tulle base adorned with rhinestone-embellished film strips, creating a shimmering, cinematic effect with visible stills from the Hepburn film (co-starring Humphrey Bogart and William Holden).

A high slit and dramatic bustle completed the Old Hollywood glamour, perfectly aligning with the evening’s celebration of fashion as art.

Carpenter’s appearance marked another stylish milestone following her Coachella headline sets in custom Dior. The dress has been widely praised as a conceptual triumph.
