Reality star and actress Venita Akpofure has spoken out against the “irreparable psychological damage” caused by parental domestic violence, following the viral footage of Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, allegedly being battered by her father, on her 25th birthday today.
Akpofure, who disclosed her disdain for the act via a passionate social media post on her official X handle, argued that there is no justification for such brutality, particularly against female children.
She highlighted that such trauma fundamentally alters a woman’s ability to trust and form healthy relationships with men later in life.

“As a father, there is absolutely no reason for some kind of levels of violence towards your own children… especially the girl children. It’s sooooo traumatic and does psychological damage beyond repair! It affects how they relate and connect to men in their lives! & so much more,” she lamented.
The outcry follows a terrifying Instagram Live session where Ilebaye was seen with a severely swollen face, screaming for help while a man believed to be her father confronted her. eelive.ng reported that the situation prompted an immediate rescue operation led by fellow reality star Beauty Tukura, who worked tirelessly to track Ilebaye’s location in Abuja after the victim went silent.
Tukura later confirmed that the 2023 winner had been successfully removed from the dangerous environment and was recovering. However, the incident has sparked a wider conversation about domestic abuse within the family.
