Shahidi production company 7th sun

American actress Yara Shahidi just launched her own production company 7th Sun Productions with her mother Keri Shahidi. On Monday, the 20-year-old shared the exciting news with Instagram, announcing the launch of new company 7th Sun Productions.

This comes after serving as the face for a Coach campaign, helping to pay off some student loan debt for lucky Grown-ish fans, and starring in a recent video from Kendrick Lamar. Yara Shahidi really can do it all!

Shahidi announced her latest career move with the help of a story from The Hollywood Reporter. She wrote, “The vision is set. The slate is built. Grateful to my ABC family & excited to join the television landscape; to collaborate and push forward the stories of our many intersections.”

According to Deadline, Yara will be taking on this new endeavour, 7th Sun Productions, in conjunction with her mom and business partner, Keri Shahidi. The mother-daughter duo has signed a deal with ABC Studios.

The Shahidi’s will be in charge of creating “alternative” television programs to air on cable, streaming, and broadcast, Deadline reports.

In an Instagram statement shared by Keri Shahidi, she also shared her vision for the production company. She wrote, “Excited to share our next manifested dream.”

“We are eager to tell more stories; continue expanding the media landscape alongside our peers, and to keep the door open for other creatives,” Shahidi wrote.

There’s no word yet on what 7th Sun Productions might be working on. But per its mission statement, the team intends to “pursue projects that touch upon themes of history, heritage, culture, and joy.”
