Wizkid’s ‘Smile’ Debuts on World Digital Song Sales Chart

Ayodeji Balogun, Nigerian Afrobeats singer, better known as Wizkid, has just bagged a spot on the World Digital Song Sales Chart with his new song, Smile.

According to Forbes, the song which features US songstress H.E.R occupies number 24 on the chart.

“Nigerian singer, songwriter and super-producer Wizkid scores his first placement on the World Digital Song Sales chart this year with “Smile,” his collaboration with R&B powerhouse H.E.R. The track marks Wizkid’s nineteenth tune to appear on the tally. While H.E.R. reaches the ranking for the first time,” Forbes wrote.

This is coming after the Ojuelegba singer won the ‘BET HER’ award for his role in Beyoncé’s Brown Skin Girl.

Wizkid has become a household name in Nigeria’s music industry, with several national and international awards to his name.

His journey to fame kick-started with Holla at Your Boy; a lead single from his debut studio album Superstar in 2011. It featured other songs such as Tease Me/Bad Guys, Don’t Dull, Love My Baby, Pakurumo and Oluwa Lo Ni.

Since his 2014 self-titled album, Ayo, his endearing fans have waited patiently for Made In Lagos; his 4th studio album, which he said would drop on his birthday, July 16; instead the singer released his new song Smile.

Made in Lagos, has been teased and talked about for nearly two years.
