Popular music artiste, Wizkid has opened up on interesting facts about his album, Made in Lagos, which was released recently.
Among other things, Wizkid shared the “mystery” behind his meeting with Jamaican DJ, Damian Marley who featured on a song in the body of work
Speaking on Capital Xtra’s The Norte Show, he revealed that his meeting with Damian Marley had changed his life in no small way, seeing that their bond was more than just a collaboration on the song, “Blessed”.
According to Wizkid, a collaboration with Damian Marley had always been a dream and on the day they met, he had only just finished speaking with a host who asked what his next collaboration would look like.
His words: “Damian Marley changed my life. He changed the way I live. After the session, it changed a lot for me. I recalled that I was in New York (United States of America) promoting my last album, Sounds From the Other Side, and I was asked who I would love to collaborate with and I said ‘Damian Marley’.
“Then I went back to my hotel. I kid you not, I was at the balcony of my suite with some of my friends when my cup fell to the balcony downstairs. Guess who picked up my cup? Damian Marley.”
The pop star also revealed that his first conversation with Damian Marley was an insightful one as they both discussed family and children.
“We later went to a restaurant and talked. The session I had with him was spiritual. We spoke about everything. We spoke about kids, family, and other important things. That was a very insightful session for me. He is a great guy with great energy. Making that song was a blessing,” he added.
