It looks like Will Smith has joined the Netflix crowd now.
The award winning actor is set to host and star in a new one-hour comedy variety special at Netflix.
The show which will premiere later this year will see Smith host celebrity guests to discuss a variety of topics. It will also include comedic sketches and musical performances amongst other things.
Westbrook Studios will produce the special for Netflix. Smith will serve as an executive producer in addition to starring and hosting. Executive producers will also include Westbrook Studios’ Terence Carter, Miguel Melendez, Sahara Bushue, and David Boorstein.

Will Smith is well known for his starring roles in the Bad Boys and Men in Black franchises. He also earned leading actor Oscar nominations for his work in Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness. The 52-year-old is the only actor to have starred in eight consecutive films which grossed over $100 million in the United States box office, eleven consecutive films which grossed over $150 million internationally, and eight consecutive films which opened at number one in the US box office.
However, when Smith first broke out, it was as a rapper under the name The Fresh Prince. Then in 1990, he rose to mainstream success in the beloved sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which ran six seasons and nearly 150 episodes on NBC.
As a rapper, he’s the recipient of four Grammy awards. Winning for Best Rap performance in 1989 and Best Rap Solo performance in 1992,1998 and 1999.
Back in 2019, Smith starred as the genie in the live-action adaptation of the classic animated film, Aladdin. The film is his highest grossing film ever, with a worldwide box office total of over $1 billion
Smith and Westbrook also are behind Bel-Air, a reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air series.
