In his new memoir titled Will, Hollywood megastar, Will Smith discussed some feelings he felt towards the late rapper, Tupac Shakur.

The 53-year-old said he felt a raging jealousy towards Tupac. He explained that he felt tortured by the close relationship the late rapper had with his now wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Tupac Shakur and Jada Pinkett met at the Baltimore School for the Arts in the 1980s as teenagers. The duo would become best friends and have a very close relationship that Will describes as legendary. “Though they were never intimate, their love for each other is legendary – they defined ‘ride or die,’” He writes in the memoir.

The fact that it was Tupac also bothered Will Smith. He wrote, “In the beginning of our relationship, my mind was tortured by their connection. He was PAC! And I was me.” According to him, Tupac had a “fearless passion” that was intoxicating and a “willingness to fight and die for what he believed was right.”

“Pac was like Harry [Will Smith’s younger brother] – he triggered the perception of myself as a coward,” He continues. “I hated that I wasn’t what he was in the world, and I suffered a raging jealousy. I wanted Jada to look at me like that.”

Smith also admitted to feeling ‘a twisted kind of victory’ when Jada chose him. “Jada was the paragon, the pinnacle, the queen of queens. If she chose me over Tupac there was no way I could be a coward. I have rarely felt more vindicated”. He wrote.

The memoir, Will was released globally on Tuesday, November 9. Visit the book’s website for more details.
