Gabrielle Union, American actress, has opened up about her first children’s book titled Welcome to the Party which was released this month.
Union stated that Welcome to the Party, was written to celebrate her daughter’s arrival into their clan, that includes Wade‘s sons Zaire, 18, and Xavier, 6, and daughter Zaya, 12 (all from previous relationships).
The 47-year-old Hollywood actress, who is renowned for her role as Kristen in Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man; disclosed this during an interview with EW.
“The book is about the anticipation our family felt about the arrival of Kaavia James (her daughter),”she said while revealing why she wrote the book.
“It’s about our celebration of her, and how our journey wasn’t how we expected; but it was right on time and perfect. We wanted to create this space for other families; who are anticipating the addition of a new family member and how exciting that is.
“I hope the book helps create a bit more space to have the conversation that there are all different kinds of families.”
In November 2018, Union and her basketball player husband, Dwayne Wade welcomed Kaavia James through a surrogate.
Union’s struggle with childbirth
Over the years, the actress and her husband had struggled to conceive.
Gabrielle Union opened up about her struggle to have a baby in her book: “We’re going to need more wine;” the book was published in 2017.
In the book, she wrote that she had experienced eight or nine miscarriages.
