Why I Respect Nigerian Military Officers -Pasuma

Popular singer, Wasiu Alabi Odetola aka Pasuma, has revealed that he respects the officers of the Nigerian military because of their selflessness.

The music star, who some days ago, congratulated his daughter, Opeyemi, for joining the US Navy, said being in the Nigerian military formation comes with a lot of risks, hence the respect he has for the officers.

When asked if he’s afraid of the risks attached to being in the military, Pasuma said: “There is the risk of danger in almost everything we do in life. Pilots take risks; driving a car or crossing a road also has risks.”

Opening up on how proud he is, Pasuma said he would not have discouraged his daughter from joining the Nigerian military if she had wished in spite of the country’s level of insecurity.

“I am proud of her. Any parent would be proud to know that their child has a mindset of service.

“I supported her decision from the beginning. She had been talking about joining the US Navy for some years, so I was not surprised when she eventually enlisted.

“As a Nigerian, I have the utmost respect for the men and women of the Nigerian military for the selfless work they do.

“The level of insecurity in the country may initially make any parent feel unsure about their child joining the military… Being in the military in America too involves risks, so I would not have discouraged her,” he was quoted as saying.
