Victor Adere, popularly known as Victor AD recently revealed why he featured DMW boss, Davido on his latest single, Tire

Victor who got famous off his 2018 single, wetin we gain revealed in an interview with Punch, that after wetin we gain became a national anthem, someone from Davido’s camp contacted him for a remix of the song that although he is not big on collaborations it was a good opportunity for him so instead of a remix, they did a new song.

Here is what he said: “I am not big on collaborations; I always like people to ‘feel me’. I got a message from someone in Davido’s camp who told me they would like Davido and me to do a remix of ‘Wetin we gain’. I thought about it and decided we should do a new song because my hit song already had its own vibe. We came up with a song and recorded the next morning; it was a very easy and seamless process.”

Victor also revealed that the inspiration from his song came from his experiences growing up poor in Delta state and moving to Lagos to find a break for his music. “My hit song, ‘Wetin we gain’ was basically about my struggle and how God brought me to the limelight. After the song was released, I heard some people felt it should have been a gospel song but I am not perfect, I never said I am a gospel musician, so it is just a motivational song.”

Aware that people are adding his song to the trending yahoo issue on social media, Victor debunked the news that his song is a fraud anthem. He said: “When I heard that some people felt my song was the reason behind the desperate search for money amongst young men in Nigeria these days, I was disappointed. However, I realised that even in the beginning, God created Adam and gave him Eve and when issues came up, he still blamed God for giving him a woman.”

“So, no matter what an individual does in life, people will still complain. People will decide how they want to be motivated by a song.”

“I grew up in Delta state. I moved to Lagos because I wanted to make it but it didn’t come as I had expected. I just kept moving until I had the opportunity to record that song which has pushed me to the level that I am in now.”
