Popular rapper, Folarin Falana otherwise known as Falz, has revealed why the ongoing nationwide protest against police brutality will continue despite the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a notorious department of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
In a chat with Arise TV, the music star said members of the public have had enough of the country’s leadership, adding that people no longer trust the government as they have overtime been failed.
His words: “I find it funny that he would even asked.. but is there any way to protest while at the same time allowing business to carry on? People want to go to work. What, what? Why are you even thinking that business should carry on as usual? How can a policeman look me in the eye and tell me ‘I will shoot you, I will kill you and nothing will happen’? and you’re telling me that I should leave the street…I should create way for people that want to carry on their businesses.
“How are you not even concerned that people are getting killed every day? youths are being wasted. And you want to carry on business as usual… isn’t this what we always see? You see, these things happen, nothing ever gets done, and you still want us to allow some people to go to work? You are complaining about traffic, what is traffic to a man that lost his son, what is traffic to the victim of the man that kill people and throw their body in the river?”
Meanwhile, just a few days ago, Falz penned an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, as he sought the reconstitution of the National Human Rights Commissions board.
In the letter, the rapper noted that there is a need for the Buhari-led administration to reconstitute the council publicly, adding that the reconstitution of the National Human Rights Commissions board, will help the government in restoring the confidence of Nigerians.
