March 2021 is bringing a variety of Nigerian movies for all ages and tastes. Despite the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic affected the release of some films, we’ve seen some excitement come through the doors since December 2020 like Funke Akindele‘s Omo Ghetto: The Saga which broke Nollywood’s box office record with a cum revenue of over N500m.
It’s undoubtable to say that this feat has geared quite a number of Nigerian movies to parade their way into a cinema near you.
Below is a rundown of March’s box office offerings.
Ponzi (March 12)
Produced by Vincent Okonkwo and directed by Kayode Kasum, Ponzi is hitting the cinemas on March 12.
The comedy film stars Timini Egbuson, Uzo Amaka, Jide Kosoko, Mawuli Gavor, Tope Tedela, Chinyere Wilfred, Gold Ikponmwosa, Zubby Michael and Mr Macaroni.
La Femme Anjola (March 19)
La Femme Anjola, a buzzy crime thriller in which Rita Dominic plays a seductive mysterious woman will be released across all cinemas on March 19.
It follows the story of a young man Dejare (Nonso Bassey) who becomes entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse when he meets and falls for a mysterious woman Anjola (Rita Dominic) whom he simply cannot have.
Eagle Wings (March 12)
The first collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and Nollywood is coming to cinemas on March 12.
Based on true events, the film follows the story of an Air Force Fighter Pilot who must navigate his way to safety amid an insurgency. It stars Femi Jacobs, Enyinna Nwigwe, Yakubu Mohammed, Uzee Usman and Paul Apel Papel.
Under the Carpet (March 12)
The Tope Alake directed romance drama will premiere at the IMAX Cinema on the 7th of March and will start showing in all Cinemas nationwide from March 12.
The Razz Guy (March 19)
The Razz Guy follows the story of an arrogant lawyer played by Popular skit maker, Nosa Afolabi better known as Lasisi Elenu, who loses his ability to speak after a spell is cast on him. This is the comedian’s debut lead role. The movie is directed by Udoka Oyeka and distributed by Filmone.
The Therapist (March 26)
It stars Rita Dominic in a lead role alongside Mokeme, Michelle Dede, Toyin Abraham, Shaffy Bello, Tope Tedela, Anthony Monjaro and Anee Icha.
Directed by Kayode Kasum, the film follows the story of a woman who finds her self in an abusive marriage and must do everything it takes to get out. Find out what happens when she meets with a male therapist.
Suga Suga (March 26)
Produced by Louiza Williams and directed by Richard Omos, Suga Suga follows the story of Dr. Durojaiye, a wealthy billionaire who’s lust for young girls tears his family apart. It stars Tana Adelana, Charles Inojie, Wale Ojo, Taiwo Obileye and many more.
