The Nigerian police have stated that they will conduct a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s death.
Mohbad, 27-year-old singer died on Tuesday and was laid to rest on Wednesday.
The police department also expressed “our deepest condolences” to the late singer’s family, friends, and fans in a statement on Thursday.
According to a statement signed by Nigeria Police Force (NPF) spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos police commissioner has been tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
The police PRO also urged the late singer’s family and friends to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, who tragically passed away recently. We understand the concerns surrounding his untimely demise and the various speculations that have arisen,” the statement reads.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to a comprehensive investigation into this matter, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death. Rest assured, updates will be provided as investigations unfold.
“We encourage family members or close associates with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process.
“In the meantime, we kindly request that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
“Your trust and support are deeply valued.”
While the cause of Mohbad’s death remains unknown, tributes from friends and well-wishers, including celebrities, have poured in.
Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, revealed that he died shortly after an auxiliary nurse was invited to give him an injection.
Omowunmi, Mohbad’s wife, also spoke about the singer’s struggles when he was alive.
