James Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have cleared the air on rumors that a James Bond TV show might be happening in the future.
According to the duo, there’s no chance of the iconic spy franchise getting a television spin-off. Back in May, it was announced that Amazon were acquiring MGM, the studio that holds the rights to the Bond series. This led to speculation about the future of the character.
“We make films. We make films for the cinema. That’s what we do,” Broccoli said. Wilson added, “We’ve resisted that call for 60 years”.
The producers were also asked about what the future of the franchise may look like. They responded, “I think we just really want to celebrate this and celebrate Daniel, and then when the dust settles, then look at the landscape and figure out what the future is. Although I think one thing we’ve certainly learned in the last 18 months is you never know what the future is. So we have to sit down and think about it.”

Broccoli and Wilson have also confirmed they’ll retain their “continued artistic control” over the franchise. In addition, they assured fans that “are committed to continuing to make James Bond films for the worldwide theatrical audience.”
Next year marks the Bond franchise’s 60th anniversary – six decades since Dr. No hit cinemas. “Sixty years is a fantastic run,” remarks Wilson.
Daniel Craig, has been playing the titular James Bond character since 2006. He has appeared in a total of five films for the franchise. Craig started his tenure with Casino Royale, followed by Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.
His final movie as the iconic super spy will be in No Time to Die, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. The movie is set for cinemas later this year.
