The Women at Risk International Foundation, a non-profit organization established to address prevalence and issues of rape, sexual violence and sex trafficking in Nigeria has announced that it will be embarking on a walk-in celebration of the UN ‘16 Days of Activism‘ for Gender-Based Violence.

The walk, tagged the “No Tolerance” March is part of the organization’s on-going successful “No Tolerance” advocacy national campaign launched earlier in the year. The campaign saw celebrities like Richard Mofe Damijo, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Funke Akindele, Dakore Akande, Ego Boyo and many more stand with WARIF to say ‘No Tolerance’ to sexual abuse and violence with a show of commitment by posting short videos and pictures on their various social media platforms.

The walk will hold;

Date: Saturday, November 30th of November
Time: 7 am
Venue: Lekki/Ikoyi Link Bridge

The walk will kick off from Road Chef Drive-Thru in Lekki Phase 1.

Speaking on the reason behind the march, founder of WARIF, Dr. Kemi DaSilva Ibru has stated that “At WARIF, we believe that no single individual, organization, foundation, or government can stop the epidemic of sexual violence; but by responding to the responsibility of tackling the problem as a collective, we each bring together our unique piece of the solution. We believe that participation in these collaborative efforts are critical in making our voices heard and to bring an end to sexual violence in our society.”

Registration has commenced for the march. The fee for all men, women, and children is 5000 naira. Register to join HERE.

Proceeds from the march will go to survivors of rape and sexual violence receiving assistance at the WARIF Centre. WARIF Center is the foundation’s rape crisis center which provides immediate medical care, psychosocial counseling, legal aid, access to shelters and vocational skills training all free of charge.

Sexual violence touches all of our lives and the “No Tolerance” March is the chance to say NO! to rape, sexual violence, child sexual abuse, trafficking and other harmful practices in our communities. March with us as we speak out against sexual violence and rape. Let’s make our voices and stories known!
