US rapper Big Pokey collapses, passes away during live performance

Big Pokey, the renowned American rapper, tragically passed away during a performance in Texas, USA.

The 45-year-old artist collapsed on stage while performing at a Juneteenth-themed event in Beaumont on Saturday.

Prompt medical assistance was provided, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The heartbreaking news of Big Pokey’s demise was officially announced on his Instagram page the following day.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell,” the statement reads

“He was well loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respect’s.

“Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit In The Litter.”

Born as Milton Powell on November 29, 1977, in Houston, Texas, Big Pokey rose to prominence as a rapper.

In the early 1990s, he began his career alongside the late American entertainer, DJ Screw.

His collaboration with DJ Screw on the mixtape ‘June 27th Freestyle’ became a significant milestone in chopped and screwed hip-hop.

Big Pokey’s involvement as a founding member of the Screwed Up Click, a renowned hip-hop group based in Houston, further solidified his influence in the music scene.
