Tunji Balogun emerges CEO of Def Jam Records

Nigerian American record label executive Tunji Balogun has emerged CEO of  multinational record label Def Jam Records. 

Balogun started his career as an intern in international recording company Warner Brothers Records. His career has grown rapidly since then.

The American based Nigerian will be joining 35-year-old American music record label, as its new CEO. He will focus mainly on the creation and dissemination of hip hop. The new CEO will also deal with urban music. Balogun is  replacing Eminem’s prominent manager, Paul Rosenberg.

The label has successfully signed a lot of remarkable artists like Rihanna, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Big Sean.

Balogun joined his previous label RCA in 2015. While there, he played a significant role in signing artists like H.E.R, Khalid, SZA, amongst others. The label is also home to Normani, UMI, Lucky Daye and Freddie Gibbs.

In the past 10 years, Balogun has been instrumental in getting TDE and RCA to do a deal for SZA. He has also gotten  Dreamville and Sony to do a deal for Cozz, an American based Nigerian rapper.

The multinational’s CEO emerged as the top executive at Keep Cool Labe. A record label he co-founded with RCA. He did this along with other executives like Courtney Stewart, Jon Tanners and Jared Sherman, in the past. Balogun’s fans continue to anticipate more good works from him.
