Nollywood can boast of being the second-largest movie industry in the world due to the number of movies we put out every year ( about 2500 movies annually). We also have legendary movie-stars such as Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva, Ramsey Noah, and many more. But slowly, these movie- giants are leaving the screen for retirement and delving into other sectors. Who then will take on their great legacies? Below are five rising actors that look promising already.

1. Sharon Ooja

Sharon came into the limelight after she starred as “Shalewa” in the popular web series, Skinny Girl in Transit. She has grown a lot since then and thanks to her impressive acting skills and looks, she has acted in major films like Oloture, which pushed her growth even further.

Sharon is an excellent example of beauty with brains as she never fails to execute her roles flawlessly.

2. Jemima Osunde

Jemima featured as “Laela” in the MTV series Shuga but she got her big break when she starred in Genevieve‘s award-winning movie, Lion Heart in 2019 and has been going forward ever since.

The physiotherapy graduate has also featured in other movies such as Omoni Oboli’s Moms at War, and her career looks good so far.

3. Timini Egbuson

Thuis 33-year-old actor worked hard to hit spotlight without using his sister’s fame, Dakore Egbuson, to gain an automatic spot in Nollywood.

He has featured in several movies like Fifty, Skinny Girl in Transit, Something Wicked, Isoken, Room 420, Tinsel, and Ajuwaya.

His role in Toyin Aimaku‘s Elevator Baby has made him people’s favourite.

4. Jide Kene Achufusi

Jide Kene Achufusi aka Swanky JKA started acting professionally in 2015 and has played supporting roles in movies such as Poka Messiah, Black Rose, Pretty Little Thing, Ofu Obi, and A Lonely Lane.

He made his career breakthrough in 2019 by playing the charismatic “Nnamdi Okeke” in the movie Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, which earned him Best Actor nomination and a Trailblazer Award, at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in 2020. If you haven’t seen the movie, you should. Swanky‘s acting skills are impressive and it will make him soar higher.

5. Nancy Isime

A fitness enthusiast, model, and TV host, Nancy has added “actress” to her list of skills.

Her acting career took off when she starred in Desmond Elliot‘s movie Disguise in which she transformed into a man.

Nancy also played the role of a supporting actress in the Nollywood movie Hire a Woman; which stars Uzor Arukwe and Alexx Ekubo.
