Tonto Dikeh Blames Female Actors For ‘Sex-For-Roles’ In Nollywood

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has blamed female actors for ‘sex-for-roles’ menace in the movie-making industry.

The controversial screen diva, in an Instagram live session with MMMG boss, Ubi Franklin, said men shouldn’t be blamed all the time for contributing to the menace, adding that sometimes women are the cause of the problem.

While affirming that sex-for-roles is rampant among actors and movie producers, the mother of one said; “We keep blaming these men but sometimes, the women actually offer themselves. I know of a producer in Asaba (Delta State) who used to receive over 5,000 messages from young ladies. He was one of the people who helped me in the industry.”

She however bragged about her place in the Nollywood scene, saying she is irreplaceable.

“The industry can never replace me. I say this as a king and a woman. Nollywood can never replace me because I brought in so much to the industry. I brought in so much to the table,” she bragged.

The actress added that Nigerians don’t like strong women, who are making exploit because they are often afraid of them.

She emphasised, “The truth is that as Nigerians, we don’t love strong women. We actually detest them because we fear them, not necessarily because we hate them. We are not used to people speaking their minds. I don’t just say things because I want to drive a point; I hate to be taken for granted. How many times have you seen me fight? Truth is, I am a social media sensation and everything about me goes viral.”

Sex-for-roles is a menace often perpetrated by actors and producers; it has since become a topic of discuss among film enthusiasts and industry stakeholders.

The menace is simply a long-term epidemic that exists among industry players; how best do you think it can be ended?
