Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem is one of Nigeria’s boldest voices when it comes to activism through music.

From the early 2000s till now, he’s never been shy about calling out the government, bad leadership, corruption, and social injustice. In this piece, Eelive looks six times he spoke about societal discrepancies in the country:

  1. “Mr. Lecturer” (2002)

This was released in 2002. Although targeted at corrupt lecturers in universities, this song also shaded the system that allowed such abuse of power—indirectly pointing fingers at the government’s neglect of the education sector.

2. “Jaga Jaga” (2004)

Released in 2004, this serves as Eedris’s biggest and most controversial track. He slammed the then government for corruption, poverty, and insecurity.

It was so hot that then-President Obasanjo publicly condemned it. But Eedris stood his ground.

3. “Letter to Mr. President” (2005)

A direct musical letter to Former President Obasanjo, accusing him of ignoring the masses, promoting corruption, and watching the country decay.

4. “Country Hard” (2020)

This one went after the hardship Nigerians face due to failed economic policies, bad governance, and rising cost of living.

5. “Jaga Jaga Reloaded” (2021)

A sequel to the original, released during the Buhari administration, expressing disappointment that things had worsened. He referenced insecurity, poverty, and clueless governance.

6. “Tell Your Papa” (2025)

Eelive reported on Monday how Eedris Abdulkareem a bold step by releasing a diss track targeting President Bola Tinubu.

His newly released a new diss track catalogues the happenings and the suffering of the people in Nigeria.

In the song titled ‘Tell Your Papa’ the veteran music star Abdulkareem asked Seyi Tinubu to inform his father that the country is facing unprecedented hardship, surpassing the difficulties of the past.
