Tems makes a case for celebrities, says their outfits shouldn’t be scrutinized

Nigerian recording artiste, Temilade Openiyi who is better known as Tems has mentioned that artistes should not be scrutinized for their outfits.

Speaking in her recent interview with Essence Magazine, she noted that artistes should express their individual styles, insisting that people’s uniqueness is what makes them special.

Tems further explained that her choice of dressing is a representation of her sincerity, rather than an attempt to convey a certain message.

“You should be yourself even if something else is expected of you. You win, automatically, when you are yourself, no matter what that looks like. That’s why there’s variety.

“We are different and are not all meant to be the same. And I know there is a standard, but there shouldn’t be a standard for what people should dress like if they are artistes, or what people should dress like if they are women.

“I just feel like we are all unique. There shouldn’t be a requirement. There shouldn’t be a requirement or some kind of expectation that you should dress a certain way.”
