Global superstar Taylor Swift just announced that come midnight, she will be releasing a new album titled Folklore. Swift’s eighth studio album is coming barely a year after her acclaimed Lover album.
“Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into,” she wrote on Twitter and Instagram. “I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine.”
Swift also dropped a tracklist for the album. According to the 30-year-old singer, Folklore will have 16 songs on the standard edition. However, the physical deluxe editions will include a bonus track the lakes.
Swift said it was “because this is my 8th studio album, I made 8 deluxe CDs & 8 deluxe vinyls available for 1 week. Each has unique covers & photos”.
Swift also announced that she will be dropping the music video for cardigan, the second track off the album; which she wrote and directed herself.
In August 2019, Taylor Swift released her seventh album, Lover. The album, which included hits such as Lover, ME!, and You Need to Calm Down, was a personal milestone for the artist; it was the first album that she owned the rights to after public disputes with her label.
“Something that’s very special to me about this album is it’s the first one that I will own,” Swift said about Lover on Good Morning America on August 22, 2019.
