American rapper T.I has apologized to his daughter Deyjah, for his controversial remark about her virginity. Earlier this month, during an interview on a podcast, the rapper said he escorts his daughter every year for a virginity test.

His comments sparked outrage and backlash from people who described him as a controlling and abusive freak.

While in an interview on the Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, the rapper said;

She did have a problem with me talking about it and I understand that. And I am incredibly apologetic to her for that.

Not to any of these strangers and any of these weirdos who just kind of toss lies around. She understands my intentions and she knows who I am, who I’ve always been.”

Sitting at the table with Pinkett Smith, her mother Adrienne BanfieldJones, and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris, T.I said that his intentions “have been terribly misconstrued and misconceived.”

He also cleared the air on people seeing him as a controlling freak.

I never said I was in any exam room. This is an assumption; that is a falsity. I never said it was being done present-day as an 18-year-old. I never said that her mother wasn’t present.”

The rapper went on to express confusion over the purpose and place of a father in society. He admitted that he struggles to understand the difference between control and protection. Furthermore, he says he is here to protect all of the children from themselves until they make it to a point where they have awareness and a sense of self and discernment. To be able to make certain decisions on their own that will impact their lives indefinitely.

Responding to Jada’s question on if he understood the sensitivity of the matter then. T.I said he did not understand but understands it now.
