Comedian Sydney Talker Apologises for Coronavirus Controversy

Instagram comedian Sydney Talker has apologized after he came under fire for allegedly pranking the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) by asking for a coronavirus test.

Last week, Talker took to Twitter to allege that the NCDC had refused to test him despite showing symptoms for coronavirus.

This led to a trail of criticism by Nigerians and Sydney was eventually tested and his result came back negative.

Check out his test result below:

Before he eventually shared the test result, social media users called his complaints a prank; slamming him with the hashtag #SydneyNaFraud, as many believe he made a mockery of the crisis.

Sydney in his Instagram Live video has reiterated his earlier stance that he did not prank the NCDC and wasn’t clout chasing.

Nonetheless, he said he is sorry for the uproar, adding that he was simply trying to be “a concerned citizen”; trying to make it easy for the average Nigerian to get tested for the novel coronavirus.

He went on to state that he still does not know what is wrong with him, but now felt better. He added that at the time he made the original video, he felt like he was going to die.

According to him, clout chasing is something he can do easily; but he would refrain from such in this critical period of a pandemic.

He went on to urge everyone to stay safe to avoid the spread of the deadly virus.
