Super Bowl 2020: J.Lo and Shakira Make History at Halftime

Latina singers, Jenifer Lopez and Shakira made history on Sunday night as the first Latinos to lead a Super Bowl half-time performance, performing a medley of their hits and they certainly did not disappoint.

Their performance was a seamless hybrid of Lopez and Shakira‘s discographies and energetic dance moves. They performed several of their greatest hits together and apart including “She wolf,” “Whenever, Wherever,” “Jenny From the Block,” “Let’s Get Loud,” and “On the Floor.” and delivered one of the best halftime shows in recent memory.

Both women wore series of eye-catching outfits. The show was opened by Shakira, who wore a sequin, ruby-red outfit with matching boots, she greeted the stadium audience in Spanish with “Hola, Miami.” She led a horde of scarlet-clad dancers through snippets of hits including her 2009 song “She Wolf.”

Meanwhile, J.Lo made her entrance in black leather bodysuit, standing on a pole, before she proudly announced that she’s from the Bronx, New York.

J.Lo also honored her heritage in another performance by wearing a feathered cape that showed the U.S. flag on one side and the Puerto Rican flag on the other. She opened the cape up to show the Puerto Rico side.

Her 11-year-old daughter Emme later joined her on stage for a rendition of Let’s Get Loud, featuring a girls’ choir and also the opening notes of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA.”
