Fans will get to view the highly publicised defamation court trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, as it is set to be made into a movie.

On Wednesday, Tubi, a streaming platform owned by Fox released the trailer of the film titled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial.

The movie is directed by Sara Lohman, and will feature Mark Hapka as Depp and Megan Davis as Heard. Melissa Marty plays Depp’s much loved lawyer, Camille Vasquez. While Mary Carrig takes on the role of the Aquaman actress’ attorney, Elaine Bredehoft.

This is coming after Amber Heard counter-sued Depp to the tune of $100 million after he filed a case against her for an article she wrote a year after their divorce. In the article, she had called herself a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Although his name was not mentioned in the article, Depp stated that it painted him as an abusive partner. This also consequently impacted his career negatively.

After six weeks of an intense trial, a United States jury finally reached a verdict In June. The jury found both parties liable for defamation and awarded Depp $15 million in damages.

The jury also found that Heard was defamed by statements made by Depp’s lawyer. Adam Waldman told the Daily Mail that her abuse claims were a “hoax,” and awarded her $2 million in damages.

Although Depp has since praised the jury for vindicating him, Heard disagrees and has sought an appeal.
