Straight Outta Compton star Jason Mitchell has just been arrested in Mississippi on felony weapons and drug charges. The police booked Mitchell into Harrison County Jail Wednesday and he is facing four felony charges.
Mitchell, who played Eazy-E in the N.W.A biopic, is facing two felony charges. One for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; plus two more felony charges for possession of a weapon by a felon.
Jail records indicate the police busted the The Chi with two guns, including a Glock 19 pistol and a mini Draco AK47 semi-automatic pistol.
Police say Mitchell had two pounds of marijuana; as well as 1,300 doses of MDMA in his GMC Yukon during a traffic stop. The police say the weed and ecstasy were in packages consistent with a mid-level distribution operation.
A representative for Mitchell tells TMZ, “Jason is at home with his family right now. He is working on an amazing new project. News stories move fast and oftentimes without all of the facts.”
“We will resolve this misunderstanding shortly. We trust that the court systems blind justice will protect Jason’s rights; and also allow him to tell his story”, they said.
The rep did not get into specifics on why the police arrested Mitchell or the charges he is facing. However, they continued, “During the pandemic, it’s best we focus on the importance of our nation growing back to our full capacity.”
