Netflix hit kdrama series, Squid Game, has ranked at number one in all countries it has been released in.
According to Netflix’s CEO, Squid Game might go on to become the biggest series on the streaming platform. The Korean series has continued trending since it’s release on September 17.
The series has a dystopian setting in Seoul, Korea. It does not only expose the shackles of the poor forced to live in debt, but tackles the system of capitalism which exists in Korea.
The show centers 456 Korean citizens living with debts they are unable to pay. Given an opportunity to play children games in exchange for an unexplainable amount of money, these citizens sign their lives away in order to play the game.
Desperation and tough situations force their true natures out, as they play each game in order to survive.
