First Bank’s corporate social responsibility institution, Start Performing Acts of Random Kindness (SPARK), has made a commitment to helping those in need of it. The institution’s goal is to develop communities through education, health, and welfare initiatives. Here are a few projects the SPARK initiative has taken on.
SPARK partnered with IWS for the empowerment of 500 widows, as well as visited and donated to orphanage/less privileged homes; Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and deepening the values of SPARK amongst school children.
Among others whose lives the initiative has impacted was Baby Ijeoma; who was in dire need of cardiac surgery to correct her congenital heart disease. To forestall irreversible and life-threatening complication, SPARK donated over N1.5 million.
Also, Mary Pius, a widow with five children and fruits seller who was unable to send her children to school, received support from the initiative.
Lawal Seun, a boy and the third child of a blind woman in Ondo town whose husband abandoned with the four children some years ago; returned to secondary school courtesy the initiative.
SPARK’s show of empathy and compassion focus on the four main areas: Education and Scholarship Fund; Welfare Fund for Mothers; Welfare Fund for the Old and Disabled, and Orphanage Support Fund.
