Former Soundcity OAP Awazi has described the media company as “the worst place she has ever worked”.
She made this known on Twitter to support the claims of another Twitter user Mary Colette, who said SoundcityFM had not paid its staff in over three months.

OAP Awazi then followed up with her own experience at Soundcity FM, ranging from unpaid salaries to the lack of functional equipment to sexual harassment.

A lot of former employees commented, agreeing with everything she had said. Apparently, a lot of people knew about the bad working conditions at Soundcity FM, but did not want to risk losing their jobs by speaking up.
This is how the cycle of abuse is perpetuated in the work environment; when the system bullies employees into silence and their misdeeds go unpunished for years.
But unfortunately, Awazi and the other Soundcity workers are not the only ones to experience this. Every month in Lagos, thousands of hardworking people go without pay because the labour laws in Nigeria are abysmal and the government could not possibly care less.
Hopefully, Soundcity FM pays its dues or faces the consequences of its cruelty. But knowing Nigeria, this will probably fade into oblivion in a few days.
