Nigerian veteran conscious rap artiste, Olanrewaju Fasasi popularly known as Sound Sultan has reportedly been diagnosed with throat cancer. According to SaharaReporters, Fasasi is currently receiving chemotherapy in a United States hospital.
There has been an outpour of prayers, love and support from fans and other celebrities since the news broke earlier today. Fasasi recently posted a photo of himself on Instagram thanking God for his life. In the caption, he wrote, “ALMIGHTY ALLAH WHY DO YOU LOVE ME THIS MUCH I AM NOT DESERVING. BUT ALL I CAN SAY IS ALHAMDULILAH. RAMADAN MUBARAK”.
However, the comment section of the post has been filled with an outpouring of prayers. Such comments can also be seen in his latest post where he appreciates his wife with a Mother’s Day message. Although, the Jagbajantis coroner nor his family are yet to make a public statement on the news.
Sound Sultan
Fasasi was one of the star artistes signed to Nigerian ace record label, Kennis Music back in 1997. He recently released an album ‘8th Wondah‘. The ‘Naija ninja‘ is known for his talented word play and the brilliant way he addresses social issues through his music.
The 44-year-old is also a singer, songwriter, actor, comedian and recording artist. He is respected and acknowledged across the country for his significant input in the modern hip hop Nigerian music scene. He left Kennis Music and started out on his own with, Naija Ninja in 2008.
The award-winning artiste is also an ardent Basketball lover. In 2017, he joined the organizers of the Continental Basketball League to become a team owner of Lagos City Stars. He was also a facilitator of the league.
Fasasi has collaborated with many artistes, home and abroad including former label mate, legendary Innocent Idibia and Haitian star, Wyclef Jean. He is married to Farida Fasasi and they have three children. His brother is also multi-talented actor, songwriter, and dance hall artist, Dare Fasasi, popularly known as Baba Dee.
