Sneak peak into CJ Obasi two new projects

Nigerian filmmaker CJ Obasi, known for his award-winning film “Mami Wata,” is currently working on two new scripts for feature films.

These projects are titled “La Pyramide” and “Mortuary Man.”

“La Pyramide” is described as an extension of the themes explored in “Mami Wata,” but on a larger scale with the addition of color. “Mortuary Man,” on the other hand, is a romance drama with a touch of the supernatural.

The latter project was initiated at the request of Obasi’s wife for him to write a romantic story.

Obasi’s creative journey has been influenced by his travels for the international premieres of “Mami Wata.”

He mentioned that his recent trip to Brazil for the Latin American premiere of the film had an impact on the setting of “La Pyramide,” with a portion of the story taking place in Salvador.

“Mami Wata,” Obasi’s black and white African folklore film, has garnered significant attention and accolades, including multiple awards and recognition at various film festivals.

It’s Nigeria’s official submission for the 2024 Oscars. Obasi’s upcoming projects are highly anticipated by his fans and the film industry.
