Singer Rema Takes the Cover of The Fader Magazine

Popular 19- year old Nigerian singer Rema is the cover of American magazine, The Fader 2019 winter issue. Rema‘s feature on Fader Magazine cover is a big deal for a couple of reasons. Not only was the singer described as the leader of a new crop of African artist making their way to a global stage, he now joins the likes of Drake, Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar, etc who have stunned on the cover of the magazine. However, The Fader which covers music and culture was launched in 1991.

An excited Rema shared the news on his Instagram page. He thanked everyone who made the special feature possible by celebrating him.

In the cover interview, Rema spoke about his music journey. He also revealed how he was discovered and signed to Mavin records. On his kind of music genre, he said he didn’t want his music to be categorized.

That’s what’s called my sound. I don’t want to name it because, when you name it, people will try and put me in a box and compare me with a lot of people. Right now, I just want to be on my own zone, my own world, and just do my thing with no competition.”

On the kind of impact he hopes to effect with his music, he said:

I only put out music when I need to say something. My music might conveys things about girls and beautiful ladies. But it’s still a statement about how talented you are, how diverse you are, and how far you’re gonna take the industry. I just speak when I feel like it’s time.”

Moreover, singer Rema has had an incredible year. From winning the Next Rated Award at the Headies 2019 to making Pitchfork’s 100 Best Songs of 2019.
