Simple facial skin routine for the everyday woman

Keeping the skin healthy is one of those things that can seem like rocket science. However, it does not take much to look great if you know what to do. The first thing to keep in mind is that less is always more. That can be hard to believe, but it is true.

A lot of people struggle with their skin because they do too much. Interestingly, people with sensitive skins tend to have the most trouble. The more sensitive your skin is, the more susceptible you are to blemish. This knowledge will help you realise that you actually need to do less to your skin.

The face is one part of the skin that goes through a lot. Women especially do a lot to their faces. We do regular facials, wear makeup and use all sort of face creams. However, taking care of your skin should not be a monstrous task. Here a few things you can do daily that will make a huge difference

1. Wash Your Face

Washing your face should be simple. A soap with a low ph balance and a face towel is all you need. Nothing too tough should go on your face especially sponges. Delicate hand scrub with warm water will do the magic. You can repeat the routine a few times to make sure you get the dirt and oil build-up off completely. A soft face towel will also help.

2. Wipe With Micellar Water

This is an investment that is worthwhile. Micellar water helps with further cleaning after a wash. This helps to cleanse the skin more deeply and go beyond the surface of the skin. It also does not contain anything heavy or harmful to the skin. It also reduces post-wash dryness. It subtly moistens and clears the face for other treatments.

The brand does not matter however, just anyone would do the job. Apply gently with facial cotton pads. Micellar water is marketed as a makeup cleanser too. However, it is always advisable to do a proper soap wash after a day of makeup.

3. Use Sunscreen & Moisturise

This cannot be overemphasized. It does not matter how oily your skin is, you need to use sunscreen. You also need to moisturise your face. However, these two can be the same cream. There are face creams that double as sunscreens, this would work for people with oily skin. So you have just one layer of oil.

The skin has been left bare from the wash and cleansing. Therefore, at this point, it is time to replenish and nourish the skin. Refrain from using anything too heavy or too chemical based on your face. The skin does not need all those substances. The side effects can be dire.

Also, the sun’s direct impact can be damaging to the skin. This is why you need sunscreen. Apart from skin cancer, you are susceptible to skin burns and ageing fast. Especially if you have used heavy chemical-based products on your skin in the past.
