Alternative music star, Simisola Ogunleye, popularly known as Simi, has apologised for her anti-gay remarks in the past.
Recall that about two months ago, Gay activist, Bisi Alimi called out Simi, tagging her as a disgrace.
It all started when Simi took to her Twitter page to condemn hate crimes among blacks in the wake of George Floyd‘s killing.
Condemning the killing, Simi noted that it is one thing to hate someone for being different than you but wondered how one does not value someone else who is like them.
To that, Alimi thinks Simi is hypocritical for sympathising with abroad blackness while making anti-gay remarks at the detriment of homosexuals.
According to Alimi, Simi, in her Youtube series Stoopid Sessions, stated that homosexuality is wrong, thereby putting the lives of people like him at risk.
In an open letter addressed to the LGBT (Lesbians, Gay, and Bisexual, Transgender) community, the music star admitted that she carelessly to address an issue that was a matter of life and death for many.
While maintaining that she didn’t understand their (gays’) anger at her, Simi explained that it was never her intention to hurt anyone.
