Showmax, the streaming platform, is set to release its first Nigerian original feature titled “School Run.”

This is part of the platform’s strategy to expand its content offerings across Africa, starting in December.

The upcoming lineup includes a murder mystery series called “Trompoppie,” a Nigerian legal drama named “Agu,” a reality series titled “Sports Wives,” and the first 2D animation, “Twende,” featuring an adorable boda-boda driving pangolin.

Showmax is also bringing back popular shows such as “Adulting,” “Kwa Mam’Mkhize,” “Wura,” and “The Mommy Club.”

The streaming service is undergoing a significant relaunch in February 2024, introducing a new look, app, and product suite.

Showmax CEO Marc Jury expressed excitement about the upcoming changes. He emphasized the platform’s new technology platform, bold brand identity, and unparalleled content slate.

The relaunch will include three plans: Showmax Entertainment, Showmax Entertainment Mobile, and Showmax Premier League.

Showmax has also entered partnerships with international media giants like Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Sky, ensuring a steady supply of hit content from various studios and networks.
