Seyi Shay releases ‘Big Girl’ album

Nigerian musician, Seyi Shay, has released her much-anticipated “Big Girl” album. The album is her first musical project in a while.

The album cover showcases a young Seyi Shay with an illustration of a crown on top of her head.

The 12-track album includes songs of different genres including Afrobeat, Hip hop, and R&B. The Nigerian Idol judge  explores themes of self-love, sexuality, and empowerment in the album.

According to the 35 year old singer, she drew   inspiration of the album from her rise to stardom, lessons, and meditations along the way, and finding inner peace. 

One of Nigeria’s foremost vocalists, Shay believes the “Big Girl” album is also a metaphor for the growth that women pass through to become who they are. She stated,

“This album captures growth in friendship, romance, career, and everything that makes a woman who she is.“

The songstress who also doubles as an actor continued,

“In Big Girl, I was not afraid to express all the emotions of fear, courage, joy, sadness, and pain that have led to my growth and evolution as an artiste and in my personal journey.”
