SENSATIONAL singer, Seyi Shay has cried out to reveal that her Instagram account got hacked, which she said was why her semi-nude pictures are making round on social media.
In the early hours of today (Thursday, May 21, 2020), some semi-nude photos of the singer were shared on her official Instagram page. And when some of her concerned fans reached out to her to be sure if it was her doings, Seyi Shay then via her Twitter handle claimed that her account had been compromised and that the pictures were posted by her a hacker.
Disclosing that she did not consent to the posting of the pictures, the self-acclaimed International Bad Gyal, wrote; I cannot tell why/who is doing this, but my IG account has been compromised & my privacy is being violated.”
Seyi Shay explained that the attack on her Instagram page seems to be a deliberate action, as she claimed that the pictures circulating on the internet weren’t from a recent exchange.
“Seems to be a deliberate attack as the photos circulating are not from a recent exchange. Please ignore all DMs from my account and do not share any personal info,” she added.
Leaking of intimate pictures is not new among female celebrities. Recently, Queen Salawa Abeni, a veteran singer, called out a blackmailer who was threatening to release her nude photos.
Rather than cave into her blackmailer’s demands for money to prevent him from releasing the nudes, the waka musician whose songs are predominantly in the Yoruba language, went ahead to share the pictures herself.
While it’s not a new development in the society, it is pertinent to note that victims of leaked private photographs experience shock and feel overwhelmed in the immediate aftermath of the event. In the longer term, they often exhibit symptoms of depression, anxiety, abnormally high suicidality and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
