Popular cartoon series Scooby-Doo was foundational for the childhoods of multiple generations of young people. The show has inspired spin-offs and feature-length films.
And now, it looks like we’re getting an animated origin story! That’s right. The new feature-length animated Scooby-Doo movie will hit theatres soon and the children in us are so excited.
However, this one might not feature any of the spooky masked characters we have grown to dread. It is majorly a pure wholesome story of how Shaggy met Scooby and how the two became best friends.
The movie also shows how Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Daphne, and Velma all meet and form the Mystery Incorporated. The team meets on Halloween and comes across a haunted house. Thus begins their adventures.
The makers of Scooby-Doo really know how to make a comeback. Usually, filmmakers try to capitalize on nostalgia by just copying and pasting in live-action (see Lion King, Aladdin, and literally every other Disney movie).
Contrarily, they are giving us a fresh story by going back to the past. The little kid inside me is screaming for joy. The Scooby-Doo animated franchise has been running since 1969. Yet, they still manage to give us something new.
This Saturday-morning cartoon series featured Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Norville “Shaggy” Rogers and their talking brown Great Dane named Scooby-Doo.
Together, the gang solves mysteries involving supposedly supernatural creatures through a series of antics and missteps. In this new movie, it seems like the team will come head to head with aliens!
We can’t wait to check it out. The release date for Scooby is May 15, 2020. It is already a highly anticipated release for next year.
