British pop singer Sam Smith has released his third studio album titled Love Goes. The album comes six months later than planned, renamed from To Die For; as Smith did not want to be insensitive to the COVID-19 death rate in the UK.
Also owing to the coronavirus pandemic, Smith decided to make this album a bit less heavy than In The Lonely Hour and The Thrill of It All. As 2020 delivered enough heartbreak, the soulful crooner decided to deliver a lite version of his signature style.
“I am sorry it’s taken a while,” Smith said in a September statement explaining the delay. “But these unprecedented times gave me the room and space to fall in love with these songs all over again… After it all, I still believe love is the answer. And with love in our hearts and kindness in our words and actions, we sing on.”
The time and space gave the singer-songwriter the opportunity to rework their songs and add collaborations; such as the moody My Oasis with Burna Boy, and reintroduce the revamped version with Diamonds, a cathartic, groovy pop track about finding strength from the rejection of a failed relationship.
