Grafton Records singer, David Jumbo, otherwise known as Mr 2kay, in an interview with Punch, revealed that Afrobeats poster boy, Burna Boy, pleaded with him to withdraw the robbery case and attempted murder case he had against him.
Recall that Mr 2Kay was robbed at gunpoint in his hotel room at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, in 2017, during the “Buckwyld N Breathless” concert where he also performed.
It later came to the fore that Burna Boy was the one that sent thugs to attack the Who no Like Better Thing crooner.
When asked why he withdrew the case, Mr 2kay said Burna Boy sought his forgiveness, adding that several esteemed personalities reached out to him before he decided to settle out of court with him.
“The incident happened about four years ago. We went back and forth on the case for some time. At some point, the guys who carried out the attack were arrested and they were locked up for over two years. Their parents and Burna Boy’s people kept begging. At the end of the day, I decided to withdraw the case out of court. A lot of people that I respect, including my godfather (Tonye Princewill), and kinsmen reached out to me. I listened to those people and withdrew the case.
“He (Burna Boy) reached out to me to apologise when the case was very ‘hot’. He actually called me, though that part was never put out in the public. It was quite a long conversation and he apologised,” Mr 2kay told Punch.
