‘Give Seized Food Items To Poor Nigerians’, RMD Charges Customs

Veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe Damijo aka RMD has charged Nigeria Customs Services (NCS) to release the food items seized from smugglers; to poor Nigerians.

“There is no better time than now for customs to release all the seized food items in their warehouses to the poor”, RMD said

This is because the novel coronavirus is hitting hard on Nigerians, particularly the poor; who find it difficult to feed because of the ongoing lockdown in some states.

Whilst thanking them for reduced fuel prices at this time and all the other efforts so far; “food is a major part of this lockdown,” the movie icon captioned a shared image on Instagram.

Indeed, thousands of seized bags of rice, bottles of oil, and other non-perishable food items; would go a long way to help those who could not afford to stock up in bulk before the lockdown.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, had on Sunday, March 29, 2020; announced that Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states will be shut down for a period of 14 days.

The shutdown of activities in the selected states, according to the president, was necessary because of the rising cases of the pandemic in Nigeria; since Lagos recorded the index case in late February.
