The highly anticipated Rihanna documentary in almost here. A fan account shared the first look at the project, which Amazon Studios picked up for $25million last year.
On Friday, May 1, Twitter fan account @TeamofRihanna sent the Navy into a tizzy after posting a screenshot of a cryptic photo of Rihanna that appeared on production company Film 45’s website.
Check out the tweet below:
“Coming soon: An inside look at the personal and professional life of Rihanna,” the synopsis read; along with a photo of the artists singing into a microphone at a studio. According to the photo, the film is called Rihanna: Volume One and will be directed by Peter Berg.
The documentary was described as “Peter Berg’s bold and innovative Rihanna is an unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life; providing a glimpse into the evolution of one of the world’s most well-known pop artists.”
Furthermore, it read, “With unparalleled access into the singer’s life and over 1200 hours of footage; the doc takes us on a journey through private insights into Rihanna’s personality and humor, philosophies on work, family, and love; that are both moving and inspirational.”
Berg said he gathered footage while traveling with Rihanna and her crew to Europe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He presented the documentary to multiple companies before Amazon reportedly paid $25 million for the rights.
Berg and Rihanna previously worked together on the 2012 sci-fi film Battleship. The director is also popular for his sports-focused documentaries. This includes Serena Williams’ documentaries Serena (EPIX) and Being Serena (HBO), and Stephen Curry’s Facebook Watch series Stephen vs. The Game.
