A video of popular Gospel singer, Tope Alabi performing on Sunday for Abimbola Fashola, the wife of former Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos, has caused a stir on social media.
Alabi, who recently made news for refusing to perform at the birthday party of actress Lizzy Anjorin after allegedly collecting a performance fee, was joined at Mrs Fashola’s celebration by fellow gospel singer Kenny St Brown.
In a video that surfaced on social media, Alabi was seen serenading Abimbola with her melodious songs, while Abimbola was captured dancing with her husband.
The private celebration, held at the Fasholas’ Ikoyi residence, saw the celebrant make three outfit changes during the occasion.
Her first look featured a flowing feathered gown with matching jewellery and a wristwatch.

She later switched to another free-flowing gown, paired with a gele head tie and accessories. Then she ended the evening in a lemon-coloured gown with a well-tied turban-like scarf and complementary jewellery.
Guests at the event included former Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and his wife Bisi, former Ogun governors Olusegun Osoba and Ibikunle Amosun with their spouses and Siju Iluyomade, wife of Pastor Idowu Iluyomade.
Also in attendance were former inspector general of police Musiliu Smith, GTCO Group co-founder Fola Adeola and his wife, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Muiz Banire and his wife, former NNPC board chairman Pius Akinyelure and former First Bank chair Ibukun Awosika.
Taking to her Instagram page, Tope gave a special shout-out to the celebrant, after which described as a dear mother. She prayed for God’s blessings in her and wished her more prosperous years.
She wrote: “Birthday wishes to our Dear Mother, Abimbola Fashola, as she celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday.
“As you step into this new age, I pray God’s blessings for you all the days of your life. May your strength continually be renewed by God, ma.
“I wish you many prosperous years ahead in Jesus’ name”.
