American rapper Lloyd “Safaree” Samuels hasn’t held back his thoughts on fatherhood since he welcome his daughter.
In a recent post on Twitter, the rapper who dated Nicki Minaj for 12 years before marrying Erica Mena condemned nudity amongst women and vowed to raise his daughter differently.
He said that while men had to close their eyes to visualise a women’s naked body back in the days, the case is different now.
“New millennium is crazy now. Back in the day you had to close your eyes and imagine what a girl you liked looked like naked. Now almost every girl is naked just cuz. I gotta make sure my daughter is different! She needs me,” he wrote.
Safaree and his wife, Mena met in 2016, two years after his split from Nicki Minaj. The couple had both appeared on the VH1 reality series Scared Famous.
Things had turned sour between Nicki and Safaree in 2014 after they both accused each other of cheating, lying and stealing in a public spat on Twitter. Safaree also accused the rap queen of using him for her come up and ditching him.

In an interview after the breakup in 2015, he told The Breakfast Club hosts that he walked away when he started feeling disrespected. He said: “I just got to the point where the respect wasn’t there. Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got the point where it was like, I’m your man. I’m who you go to sleep with every night. I’m who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man.”
The pair were even rumoured to have been engaged at one point after they were both spotted wearing matching rings on their wedding fingers.
Safaree, 39, and Mena, 32, got married in October 2019 and welcomed thier daughter, Safire Majesty Samuels in February 2020. Mena has a son, King, from a previous relationship.
