Rapper, AKA Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, a South African rapper better known as AKA, has tested positive for Coronavirus. 

The rapper, 32, took to his Twitter page to disclose his status on Friday.

“In an attempt to create awareness around the virus and to caution citizens to be more careful in their daily interactions with others, AKA has chosen to make his results public,” read part of his statement.

The rapper pleaded with everyone to adhere to social distancing guidelines, to wear masks; and to hold to stringent hygiene measures by frequently sanitising and washing their hands.

He also explained that he will be sharing his recovery journey with everyone while in self-isolation “as he aims to be as transparent as possible about his journey with Covid-19”. He wrote:

“AKA pleads for everyone to adhere to social distancing guidelines, to wear masks and to hold stingent hygeing measures by frequesntly sanitizing and washing our hands.

“Since the announcement of the COIS-19 pandemic in South Africaa; AKA has taken precaution that were stipoulated by the WHO and SA Goveenment. COVID-19 has become a very real part of many lives in South Africa. AKA will therefore be sharing his recovery journey with everyone whilst in self-isolation as he aims to be as transparent as possible about his journey with COVID-19.”

This further stretches the number of celebrities that have tested positive to the dreaded virus worldwide.

Last week, Shanna Moakler, an American actress and model had tested positive for coronavirus. 

As of Thursday night, Nigeria has 30,748 cases of the virus across 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
