Rape: Nigerian Rapper Bags 10 Years Jail Term

Nigerian rapper, Olawale Hassan aka Goldie 1, has been convicted of rape in the United Kingdom (UK).

A Basildon Crown Court found him guilty of rape as accused, and consequently him to a prison sentence of ten years.

According to police report, Goldie 1 committed the rape offense when he locked a woman in his car after meeting her at a night, in 2017.

The 33-year-old was said to have lured his victim into his car, after claiming he was a music producer.

BBC reports that Goldie 1 made advances to the lady, and promised to her home safely after her friend had left her at the club.

Instead of driving her home, Goldie 1 drove her to a car park, where he overpowered her and ignored her requests for him to stop.

Describing the convict as manipulative and calculated, Essex Police heaped praise on Goldie 1’s victim who’s said to be in her 20s, for her courage in reporting the rape incident.

“She blamed herself for getting in Hassan’s car, but has now recognised just how dangerous this man is and that none of this is her fault,” said Det Con De’ath.

“She didn’t want him to hurt anyone else and this has been her motivation for three-and-a-half years,” the police said.

The security force further expressed hope that Goldie 1’s jail-sentence would bring “comfort to this courageous and inspirational woman, who is now rebuilding her life knowing Hassan is safely behind bars.”

Reacting to the jail-sentence, Helen Walsh, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said Goldie 1 was a “controlling sexual predator who showed a complete disregard for the victim’s lack of consent.”
