Rae Sremmurd’s Brother Arrested For Stepdad’s Murder

The younger half-brother of the hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd has been named a person of interest in the death of their stepfather, who was shot dead inside his home in Mississippi on Monday.

Police officers from Tupelo Police Department who were dispatched to the home of the deceased on Monday night, found 62-year-old Floyd Sullivan dead from multiple gunshot injuries. 

Kerry Smalls, a spokesman for the duo, confirmed that Sullivan is their stepfather and their brother, Michael Brown is in custody in connection to the shooting. According to TMZ, the police said Brown is a person of interest and is being held for psychiatric review.

TMZ also reported that the police said no one else is being sought in connection with the killing which led to the detention of 19-year-old Michael. 

Sullivan who married Rae Sremmurd‘s mother Bernadette and also had a son with her, raised rappers Aaquil “Slim Jxmmi” Brown, 28, and Khalif “Swae Lee” Brown, 26, who make up the duo Rae Sremmurd.

The group is known for their hits “Black Beatles” and “Throw Sum Mo,” featuring Nicki Minaj and Young Thug.

Swae Lee posted a message after the news of his stepfather’s death. He tweeted: “I pray this world let’s me keep some compassion.”
