R. Kelly’s brothers, ex-wife reveal singer was molested as a child

R Kelly's girlfriends

R. Kelly’s brothers and ex-wife claim the singer was molested for years while growing up.

The revelations came out on the premiere episode of Surviving R. Kelly: Part II. The disgraced singer’s two brothers, Carey and Bruce, spoke to producers about their upbringing.

The two claim there was a neighborhood man who went by Mr. Henry, a ‘play uncle’. They recalled the man became increasingly sexual with them over time. One incident included him walking around half-naked and then pulling his penis out in his hand.

All three brothers ran out of Mr. Henry’s home and he told them not to tell anyone. His ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, also confirmed that Kelly told her a similar story about being assaulted.

His brother claimed Mr. Henry bonded out of jail and then “bribed” their mother with $5,000. She agreed not to go to court by accepting the payment. His brother said he had no idea why his mother did it.

According to his brother, Kelly was molested by a female family member years later. Kelly has admitted publicly that he was molested from age 7 till 13/14.

Kelly’s brother said the assaults that happened in the singer’s childhood changed him forever.

R. Kelly sought help

Bruce Kelly recalls a time when Robert sought help from a pastor. “He was telling the pastor ‘I look at those video tapes and I [expletive] off,’ Bruce said.

However, R. Kelly has been arrested and charged with 13 counts in Illinois federal court, five counts in New York federal court, ten charges in Illinois state court, and two charges in Minnesota.

He’s been dropped by his label RCA/Sony, campaigned against with the viral hashtag #MuteRKelly, and denounced by his former collaborators, including Lady Gaga.
