Prince Harry and Jovi Bon Jovi got behind the mic at Abbey Road Studios to record a charity single for Harry’s Invictus Games Foundation, to the excitement of their fans.
The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK from Canada this week to team up with the world famous rocker.
The pair recorded a new iteration of Bon Jovi’s hit Unbroken. They were joined by a choir named after the Invictus Games Foundation.
Bon Jovi’s song is written about and dedicated to those war vets who live with PTSD, to honor their service and acknowledge the strength of the Armed Forces community.
“It’s going to be really easy. Just, pretend you’re singing in your bedroom,” Bon Jovi told Harry, before advising him to “breathe in.”
The Invictus Games was set up by Prince Harry in support of wounded vets. The idea of the organization is to get veterans involved with activities, despite their injuries or illness. The Duke of Sussex was inspired to create the foundation when he attended the U.S. Warrior Games in 2013, according to the Invictus Games website. One year later, Prince Harry’s Invictus Games were born.
“The word ‘Invictus’ means ‘unconquered,’” the website reads. “It embodies the fighting spirit of wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and personifies what these tenacious men and women can achieve post-injury.”
Harry later joined the Livin’ On A Prayer star and members of the Invictus Games Choir to pose for a photo on Abbey Road’s famous zebra crossing, which appeared on the front of the Beatles’ 1969 album.
It came as tourists watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace were treated to a series of Bon Jovi hits including Livin’ on a Prayer and It’s My Life.
A week prior, Sussex Royal hinted at a collaboration between Harry and Jon Bon Jovi for the Invictus Games.
